WORKSHEET 2. MY REFERENCES
COMPETENCES ADDRESSED:
Motivation and perseverance.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You will be able to identify which kind of people inspire you and why.
You will be able to establish a role model or a reference you may follow to design your
own path in life.
You will be able to identify which competences you need to be able to follow the path
in life you want.
METHODOLOGY:
Individual activity, self-reflection.
WHY THIS ACTIVITY IS IMPORTANT?
Having role models is very important because they can be a source of inspiration. This
doesn´t mean you have to imitate or follow the very same steps or address your
professional career to the same one they followed, but you will be able to identify
positive traits that can inspire you, even if your objectives in life are different. You can
always recall your leaders/role models to self-motivate you and persevere for what
you want to achieve in life.
Description of the activity
Think of a person you admire, that you consider a leader and inspire you. It doesn´t
need to be someone famous or it doesn´t need to even be real. It can be a character
from a book or a TV show.
Explain what you admire in that person and why you admire him/her. Try to identify
which are the competences associated to it. For example, if you admire an athlete, the
traits you may identify could be: motivation, perseverance, hard work, strong mind,
concentration… If you admire a doctor, the traits could be empathy, wisdom, hard
work, communication style…
Afterwards, try to do the exercise of comparing your own competences with those you
have identified in your leader and write what you would need to do to improve yours
in order to get similar traits to your role model.
